Mitochondria are well-known as an organism's powerhouse. There has been significant progress in the last two decades on the role of mitochondria in various human diseases. Mitochondrial disorders afflict a large population, especially the young. However, the public's awareness of the illness is fairly low. Secondly, vast phenotypic diversity and understanding of the associated mechanisms require significant research to understand the disease and to evolve therapeutic strategies. The proposed conference on "Progress in Mitochondrial Research and Therapy" promises a deep dive into the cutting-edge areas of mitochondrial research, discussing topics such as structure, function, mechanisms of mitochondria, and road to diagnosis, and avenues to therapeutics.
With presentations from leading experts and opportunities for collaboration, this gathering aims to illuminate the path towards conquering mitochondrial diseases and improving human health. The Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara University (SDMU), Dharwad, in collaboration with the Society for Mitochondrial Research and Medicine, India (SMRM) is organising the 10 th Annual Conference of the SMRM on the theme "PROGRESS IN MITOCHONDRIAL RESEARCH AND THERAPY" on 11th and 12th Nov 2024. This conference invites academicians, researchers, clinicians, and industry personnel working on physiology, toxicology, biochemistry, genetics, and molecular biology of mitochondria-associated diseases, diagnosis, and treatment. Hence, this conference will provide an excellent opportunity to discuss the status and trends in mitochondrial biology and medicine.
